So after 2 moderately successful interations; I'm finally moving onto my big build; from a table top hob 20l to a stand build full drill 45l. The wife and I had been looking at a redsea peninsula 525. But this morning facebook graced us with a 250l rear sump redsea. Unfortunately this post is an afterthought so I've already made headway with the tank.
A little about how she was; The most 2004 silver you can imagine; practically the beige computer of reefing. I understand the hobby has come a long way since the release of the 250 max; rimless beauty, clean glass minimalistic, not this. She is clunky and over stated; a real eye catcher. It would suit a wood panel library.
But not for long my friends! I vow to make this a show piece to swing the tide of evolution! The max 250 still has its place, and I'm going to throw money at it until its proven.
To start i stripped my canopy off; clunky cheap plastic and to my surprise every last t5 is working. I have a few cracks to putty but otherwise its in good shape; although the fans, my god the fans, I've blown wheel bearings on my suzuki and run quieter then these fans.
The skimmer has no cup; which isn't too upsetting because either A) I'll be replacing it with a bubble magnus or B) maybe a couple of filter socks.
Both return pumps are shot! But that is fine; a set of tunze will make a quick appearance and steal the show.
The cabinet has a bit of swelling towards the bottom otherwise its pretty solid.
I don't need to say anything about the doors. Maybe I'll throw in a chundering emoji!
Anyway pictures as it is now.
Guess what color it will be.
Also cheer squad attached.
