Redsea part 4 vs All for Reef

Have you done something unusual that impacted alk?

Not that I'm aware of. Though thinking about this a bit more I'd say that my tank's Alk and Calcium imbalances have been fairly short-lived and not large imbalances - and I suspect that if I'd been less compulsive about watching my Apex Triton alk and calcium graphs (while calibrating the Apex often) and more patient its likely that I wouldn't have needed to break out of the Red Sea app 1:2 cal/alk dosing ratio at all. :)

My intention was mainly to point out that the ReefBeat app is actually quite flexible in that you can dose any of the four parts as much or as little as you like.

One issue not mentioned here is that Redsea Part 4 is not balanced as TM 3 part, so it's a no-go for no-water change tanks. Also, regarding the link between trace elements and coral color, is there any proof for that?

I certainly agree that it’s a small advantage of a 2/3/4 part system over AFR that one can adjust dosing somewhat independently. My only point is that I think folks blame consumption imbalances for things aren’t not that, such as dosing pumps not perfectly matched.
