First salt water tank!

Went a little overboard on the equiptment and research. Almost scared me out of starting. Finally pulled the trigger and bought a tank and assorted equiptment.

Started with:
Tank - RedSea XXL 625
Return Pump - Vectra M2
Powerhead - 2x Vortech MP40
Lights - 2x Radion XR30 G5 (bought redsea reefled 90s then returned after more research)
Skimmer - RedSea 900
Rock - CaribSea LifeRock
Sand - Caribsea crushed coral
Bio Filter - 2x Marine pure blocks

Day one:

Tank delivered via freight! Super excited to open. Unfortunately RedSea sent me the wrong tank! Received XXL Peninsula. Would have kept it but it was going against the wall and Wife said NO way. Must be even lol.

So instead I began the return process. RedSea was really easy to work with. Week later picked up the old tank and a couple days later received the correct tank.

As I waited I began cycling Rocks and marine pure in a brute trash can. set heaters to 88 added RODI and TurboStart.

Day 30:

Finally put tank together. Wife needed time to grieve her unused dining room.

I really like the dimensions of the 625xxl.

I think you should move those paintings because you will definitely get salt on them.
Lol yea I turned them sideways and raised them up a couple ft above the tank once I turned on the return pump. With the M2 and 2 MP40s there is quite a bit of turbulence at the top of the tank.

this is the tnak I have. I love it! The sump is meh for me though. Wish I would have gotten an after market sump. Is the 2 radions enough light for SPS? I weas considering switching from 4 hydra 26 to three hydra 64's, but those radion blues look nice too.

Probably gonna need a 3rd Radion... I was being cheep. They also sell a blue pro g5 that has significantly more blue LED's. The color is amazing though! No shimmering on the bottom that scream LED. But i have obly turned mine up to 15% so far.

Any Refugium light reccomendations for the XXL 625?

Was considering Kessil H380 but is that over kill?

Love your rock scape, welcome to the RSR family. If you haven't checked it out there is a thread on here dedicated to Red Sea so you can see what others have done with their setups, mods they have made, tips are tricks. Although it sounds like you've done a lot of research so maybe you've already found it.

Welcome to the 625 crowd. Take a look at my Build thread for ideas. My tank has been wet since last July.

Yes, it is overkill. You’ve got Lots of time to get a fuge up and running
I was going to go with the AI Fuge light but I’m not running a fuge now.

I use the H380. It is strong for that sump but I don't know of a better light. It does keep the algae out of my DT and I throw a gallon of chaeto out every 2-3 weeks

do you like that red sea skimmer? it wasn't out when i bought mine and I went with a vertex.
I no longer have the Red Sea skimmer. I went to a reef Octopus Elite. The Red Sea was ok, but the DC motor on the reef Octopus is a great addtion.

Ok, I was wondering. Thanks for the reply. I like the vertex but it's always needing adjusting
