Are redsea really that bad

Im looking at a red sea reefer s-550 or a 425 g3. Are they really that bad or are they good?

If you believe Red Sea the G3 series has fixed the past issues with catastrophic seam failures. But they told a lot of people the flimsy seam protectors were enough to keep their tanks seam from failing which happened to alot of those same people. IMO their word means nothing.

My advice is to spend a few minutes searching for redsea seam failures. Personally I would not bring another RS tank into my home if it were free.

I'm on my 5th red sea system...thankfully I've never had an issue. The s550 is a great system...wider than the 425.

I had many of their products (including a G1 Reefer which I fortunately replaced with a tank of a different brand before it failed). There is not a single product I would recommend (the salt may be okay, but I don't trust them not to cheap out on the ingredients so I switched salt as well). ReefWaves getting stuck all the time or breaking, AC/DC adapters of ReefLEDs failing frequently, starting to smoke and (fortunately) tripping my GFCI before starting a fire. The skimmer overskimming even though the sensors are cleaned and/or freshly calibrated and the threshold very low. Detritus accumulating on the "neck cleaner" which just makes it fall back into the tank again.

I won't buy a single product from them again.

I've had great luck with their doser. Best doser I've owned in 30 years. Super accurate. Fittings are great. It is a great piece of kit.
