Reef and coral tank

Hello everyone ,
I have had my 75 gallon salt water Aquarium for about 4 months now I have had so many fish die with ick , tested water sample water is perfect my husband decides to add 6 shrimp then we end up loosing 4 more fish powder blue purple tang , Nemo and more now my fox face is ill . Not sure what is going on but I’ve lost pretty much all my fish the coral is doing amazing but my fish isn’t
Any ideas ??

You answered your own question, most likely. Probably still have ich in the tank. If ich was ever present you need to treat all fish and leave the tank fallow. If not you will need to do ich management which is questionable.

Also, hate to be the bearer of bad news but powder blue and purple tang really shouldn’t be in that size tank they need more swimming room. Plus they are ich magnets so a lack of swimming room will lead to stress and then ich.

I think you need to slow down. 75 gallons is big, but not huge. In my experience, aggression and stress make your tank more susceptible to ich. If you are fishless right now, go ahead and hunker down with a 70 day fallow period to kill all the ich in your tank. Then stock carefully, least aggressive fish to most aggressive fish SLOWLY. Like one new fish a month is almost too fast. Make sure there is plenty of hiding places in the rock work. QT new arrivals if you can.

Sounds like a case of too much too fast. @jabberwock has given good advise along with @EliMelly In regards to the fish. I've been in the hobby for over 8 years and have never been able to keep a powder blue and no longer even try. IMO they are not a beginners fish.

I would just keep the tank clean for a little bit, let the ich run its course and then add livestock into the tank. No use in just throwing more money at your tank for it to potentially die again.

As said, 70 days with no fish.
Set up a small tank, 10 or 20 gallon for quarentine. I'll post the full process but even if you do 2 week in QT you'll see if the fish has any of most common diseases. That does more than most people.
Imagine you get some nice fish and have them for years. Then you add one more to only wipe out all the fish you have been caring for for all those years. That really sucks!

nobody said anything about the coral, people are saying treat the ich, setup one qt, get all fish with ich in there and treat them

Ok thank you , i apologize im just trying to intake all this information , it’s just upsetting that we had 9 fish down to six lines and fox face that’s it and fox face being on it’s way out.

You need to do a hard stop. If QT is too much just buy fish from @Dr. Reef. Right now don’t add anything to the tank let’s first get this under control. You need to run fallow.

Also regarding your store, to my knowledge you can’t test water for disease. Again I’m not a fish medic. They were probably testing to see the nutrient levels and salinity which is not the reason you lost your fish here.

It is but many people do so as a precaution. To me it's kind of like buying your salt water from a store. Do you just dump it in or do you verify salinity first?

I spoke with Mike about this, PH is the only factor in shipping for stress usually. If the fish is let into a dark tank with some turbo start to make sure there is 0 ammonia even a stressed fish will do a lot better, but yes nothing is 100% fool proof.

Aside from curing your tank of ick, in my mind, ick is a stress related disease. Lack of oxygen, lack of rockwork, lack of flow, lack of proper foods, overstocking, stocking in tanks that are too small, aggression, etc..... all these contribute to stress which can lead to ick.

Some of the fish you listed should be in much larger tanks than a 75, and seems you had a few larger fish in the tank, this is stressful to the fish.

Stress leads to ick, and good fish care in my opinion comes down to avoiding all stresses to the fish. Just me 2 cents.
