We are going to continue discussing the reef aquarium facts submitted by our members. Do you agree or disagree? What are your thoughts?

Fact #128

As much as 90% of the organic material Zooxanthellae produce photosynthetically is transferred to the host coral tissue. Zooxanthellae also give the polyps color. When a coral becomes white. It has expelled its zooxanthellae.

Truth or False? What else might we need to learn on this subject? Please also share any pictures that may pertain to the subject.

TRUE! I dont like seeing all of the white Nems at the local (not good) pet stores. I see people looking at them and saying oh those look cool. I always slide over and say that it should not be white and that it has lost all of its color. then pull out the phone and share some pics of a Healthy one (Just so I don't look crazy)
