I recently received the koralLED 70W light from Reef B to provide a first-hand review of my experience with the light.
Disclaimer: Reef B sent me this light free of charge but has not instructed me to provide any sort of specific feedback on the light, other than asking for an honest review of the performance on my actual reef aquarium.
Let's get started.
The light came packaged extremely well and showed no signs of damage. It was shipped via Amazon.
I'm replacing an Ecotech Radion XR15 Gen 4 with the Ecotech Mount and the Diffuser. This light is a bit smaller than my old fixture.
The entire light seems to be constructed very well.
The top is mostly aluminum heatsink with a fan in the middle. The one thing that concerns me about the top is that the aluminum heatsink fins are very thin and towards the middle on the left and right side there are fins that are cut to make room for the screws that hold the top and bottom of the light together. Those cutouts are bit sharp and since they're smaller, a bit bendy. I would be concerned about these bending or cutting a finger if the light is going to be handled often (which most lights aren't so I'm personally not too concerned with mine).
The cords that came with the light are thick and sturdy feeling. I would not be concerned about them getting messed up if they were pinched in a cabinet door or something.
The bottom is hard plastic and the cover/lenses for the LED panel is not flimsy at all. Should stand up well to being wiped down from time to time to remove salt spray.
Overall it is a bit smaller than the Radion that I am replacing.
The mounting arm is fully metal except for the parts that come close to the water which are plastic.
The bottom portion of the vertical arm of the mount attaches to the tension block facing away from the tank, so the screws shouldn't get much exposure to salt water but should probably still be checked from time to time for any corrosion.
The horizontal arm is adjustable where it meets the vertical arm. The light is also adjustable when mounted to the horizontal arm and can slide along the entire length of the arm.
Overall I felt like it was easy to setup the mount and adjust the height and spacing of the light, much easier than the Radion mount it is replacing.
Overall setup was straight forward. I downloaded the app, gave it the permissions it asked for (which for some reason included location, I'm assuming for time zone settings), and the app did a great job of finding the light and connecting. After having several other lights in the past that wouldn't connect after several reset cycles, this was a breath of fresh air!
I'm still working on a spectrum and schedule for the light, but for the most part it is pretty simple to program. We'll see how well it maintains it's programming as I've had lights in the past that randomly revert back to their default settings after a month or when the power flickers.
This is just my initial impressions of the light and I'll be sure to update this thread as time goes along.
So far my corals and anemones seem to like it. I have it over my Anemone, Mushroom, and Zoanthid tank which is a Waterbox 20 AIO.
Photos taken with a Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra in Pro mode with the white balance cranked up to counteract the actinic lighting (like using a reef lens filter).
