OP here... living in the cornfields of Ohio.

So many of Y'all just a skip away from nice beaches actually gave me some sadness this afternoon bc I'm coming down off an emotional high if a 2wk vacation from Destin FL

I might cry myself to sleep tonight.... half kidding, I think

.
I'm in Ohio too. At least we're hurricane free...

I don't live far from Montauk either. Love the place.
When I got up from this chair, I saw a fairly large snake slithering near that tree behind me.
I picked it up and brought it a little farther away because if my wife saw it, she would have gotten the horrors and never went there again.

South shore out here is beautiful. Looks like you are setup in a great spot as well

I think from my house (Toledo, OH) to the Baltimore inner harbor is the closest the ocean gets

I'm in California outside Sacramento. So about 80 or so miles depending on where I want to visit. I dive in Monterey so that trip is about 3 to 4 hours depending on traffic. I do both weekend and day trips for diving and find it not too tiring.

Only drawback is that the water is cold. Cold water diving is night and day different than the tropics but still some of the best diving in the world I believe. I don't get to see the fancy sps, lps, and sea fan stuff that I do in the tropics but I do see other forms of soft corals, fish, etc.

Less than a quarter mile from the beach in South Florida, three houses away from the intercoastal.
Grew up in the AZ desert and didn’t see the ocean until my late teens...but once I put a mask on and looked underwater I was hooked for life. As the late and great Bob Fenner quoted: “The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.”

108 miles. I used to live a 2 minute walk to the water when I lived in Florida.
