Not the permanent home but I’m never more than 15 miles from the ocean. Currently in Montauk, NY

Interested to know who's the CLOSEST and the FURTHEST from the nearest Ocean.

Use Google Maps and post roughly how many miles you are from the nearest Ocean beach.

For me in Cincinnati.....
I believe the closest is Virginia Beach 489 miles but I'd rather do the 690 trip to Pensacola/Destin

.
Water right outside my front door

I don't live far from Montauk either. Love the place.
When I got up from this chair, I saw a fairly large snake slithering near that tree behind me.
I picked it up and brought it a little farther away because if my wife saw it, she would have gotten the horrors and never went there again.

OP here....

I'm SHOCKED on the % of ppl that are pretty close to a beach, be it the Atlantic or the Gulf or the Pacific.

Thumbing thru the responses..... it's a high % of you guys checking that are really close.

Is there a correlation btwn being a Reefer and a close proximity to a beach? Hmmmmm

Or are those Reefers many many miles away just disinterested in posting here. Hmmmmm

550 miles as the crow flies to Holly Beach, LA.
Driving, 678 miles to the same location.

Of course, that'd be to the gulf... To a 'real' ocean, that'd be the Georgia coast... 1000 miles, give or take?

I'm between Denver and Colorado Springs. 1100 miles +/- to Huntington Beach where I grew up, a mile from the beach. I love it here but I do love the beach. Probably why I wanted a reef tank so bad. My sister still lives in HB and has a FOWLR. And I'm very jealous of all the fish stores near her.

I live just outside Atlanta so the ocean is five hours away... but I used to live on the Ridge in Florida and the ocean was forty five minutes away. Right as I moved I started getting into Reef aquariums. Which kinda sucks. So every time I go to the beach in grabbing barnacle clusters and sargassum and flotsam hahaha

I've got to be among the farthest.

If you count the Gulf, it looks like I'm about 820 miles to the closest point 'as the crow flies.' If you don't count the Gulf, I'm about 1200 miles 'as the crow flies' from each coast.
