How does this spectrum look to you? Its for the orphek amazonas 500w light I want to get but I was worried about the lack of uv. It looks okay but id like some input from someone a but more knowledgeable on it!

Anyone?

Orpheks spectrum is too blue and unbalanced for my taste, mainly designed for high contrast and fluorescence with filters in my opinion, but I’m also leaning more for a fuller spectrum on my tanks.

It will work fine and most led fixtures on the market lack uv anyway

If it’s one of the companies that includes uv, it’s just a small amount

If you truly desire uv / uv type effects, you could supplement with uv bars. Reefbreeders makes led bars with near uv combined with a mix of blues and violets. It would add good fluorescence

Most fixtures have quite a lot of light in the range of 400-450, fewer have true UVA (and even fewer provide enough of it).

The Amazonas 500 doesn’t have the typical spectrum you are used to see on average fixtures.

Agree. When I say most fixtures lack uv, or have very little, I mean sub 400

Looking at the chart it has a decent amount of 400-450

Thats it thats my concern with the 500w but saying that also I cant really get much else for what I need. I want something i can hang 1.8 - 2.0m above and cover 1.8 x 1.8m

The idea was to hang it as high as I could. Currently the circled area i have the amazonas 960 icon and kessil a500x but I was hoping to replace them with one fixture hung high enough to cover. The amazonas 500 was my first choice

If you are OK with a fixed MH like spectrum, the Quanta Atlas may penetrate and provide enough PAR at these conditions.
You might want to contact Luca and see if it fits your needs.

You might be looking at a different Amazonas model, the 500 provides mainly 450-460nm.

I was looking at the charts in post 1 but upon further review they aren’t labelled. I assumed it was for the Amazonas

Oh wow.
Im not sure if any single source of light will be able to provide an even light distribution to be honest. Including the Amazonas 500.

Haha thats my fish room!
I feel like a shuttle is going to launch out of there. Or I could hide in here and be protected from nuclear fallout

I like it haha

A couple Meridian 63 will cover it but I’m not sure how it would do at the height you need. I’m sure It can be done. Battlecorals used ceiling mounted photons and meridians and they grow…well…it’s battle corals. They grow some of the nicest acros on the market.

If you want we could tag RB or Battlecorals to see what they suggest.

It will be too much to be able to penetrate with enough PAR.

ReeFi Uno 2 with 60deg reeflectors could do that, but than again - you will need many of them to cover it, which defeats OP goals.

Yeah i think your right although the saving grace is that I do have the 14 ai blade grows to which i will still have and the larger single source is in a way a little extra
