I use a very small amount of molykote 111 from BRS to lubricate O rings.. also trident food grade silicon works well

Definitely not Vaseline, or any petroleum based product. These will cause the rubber to swell and fail prematurely.

Use non-petroleum based Plumber's grease, the product above, or what I use.....Leslie's Pool and Spa Lube....seven bucks gives you a lifetime supply..

I bought a tube of Haynes food grade silicone cheap from Amazon. Enough to last a very long time
