Reef Nexus Shutdown: No Migration Needed
The Reef Nexus server has been fully retired. Rather than asking the remaining users to migrate, we moved every light over ourselves. If your light was never migrated, it is already set up on the new ReefBreeders app. There is nothing you need to do, and there is no fee.
To get connected, download the ReefBreeders app from the App Store or Google Play, create an account if you don't already have one, and add your light using the normal setup process. Your light will connect like any other.
Two things worth knowing before you start:
Your old schedules and settings did not carry over. You will need to program your light again in the new app, which takes just a few minutes.
If your light has been power cycled recently, it may show an unusual indicator pattern or sit at a default brightness. This is normal and clears up once the light is paired in the new app.

Migrating from Reef Nexus to ReefBreeders App
Step 1: Download the Reef Breeders AppVisit the App Store on your Phone.
Search for "Reef Breeders" in the search bar, or tap on the link below:

Step 2: Create an Account
Open the Reef Breeders app after installation.
Tap on the "Sign Up" or "Create Account" button. Enter your email, and you will be sent a 6 digit code to confirm the email is correct. Enter the code, and create a password.
Step 3: Create and Name Your Tank
After successfully creating your account and logging in, you'll be taken to the app's main dashboard.
To migrate your tank(s), tap on the "Add Tank" button.
Fill out the tank details, including the name and any other relevant information about your existing tank setup.
Step 4: Reset Photon V2 Pro Light
On your Photon V2 Pro light, locate the reset button inside the cutout (See attached Photo).
Press and hold the reset button for 8 seconds to reset the light's Wi-Fi signal.
Be careful not to push the button inwards, instead, insert the included button presser or a flat object such as a flathead screwdriver, gently into the hole with zero resistance. Once inserted, gently press upwards until you feel a small click (in some cases, you may not feel a click, this is normal. Some buttons are springier than others).
Hold the button in position for 10 seconds, then release.
Note: If the light goes SOLID blue, go to your phone's Wi-Fi settings and disconnect from the light's Wi-Fi network before proceeding. Ensure your phone is on your regular home network.
Step 5: Verify Indicator LED
After the light goes through its restart sequence, the indicator LED on your light's endcap should be flashing blue. If not, you may need to repeat Step 4 or try unplugging your light from the wall for 30 seconds before plugging it back in.
Step 6: Open Reef Breeders App
-With the indicator LED flashing blue, open the Reef Breeders app.
-Under your tank menu, tap on "+ Add new device."
-Select "Photon", then from the dropdown choose "(Flat Button - Pre 2025)" and tap "Ready."
Step 7 (iOS Only): Connect to ReefBreeders-Light Network
Go to your phone's Wi-Fi settings and select the "ReefBreeders-Light_XXXXXX" network (XXXXXX will be a unique, 6 digit code). Ensure it's connected, and the indicator LED is solid blue.
NOTE: the light's Wi-Fi network is not a router. You will see a "no internet connection" message. This message can be ignored.
Step 8 (iOS only): Check Connection
-Return to the Reef Breeders app and tap on "Check Connection.
Step 9: Connect to Home Network
Tap on "Check Connection," then choose your 2.4GHz home network and enter the password (case-sensitive). Note: if your network password contains the "&" symbol, update it to remove that. If your router does not accept WPA2 connections, update the routers settings.
Step 10: Light Naming and Description
Once connected, give your light a name and description (optional) of your choice, then tap "Continue."
Note: If the indicator LED is solid green, continue to the next step. If it is blinking blue or flashing green, unplug the light from the wall for 30 seconds, then plug it back in. The light will reboot and automatically re-attempt the connection process.
Step 11: Continue Setup
On the next menu, tap "Continue Setup."
Step 12: Test Channels (Optional)
Use the sliders to test each channel (optional), then tap "Next."
Step 13: Create Schedule
-Under "Schedule," tap "My Schedules," then tap "Create Schedule."
-Create a schedule for your light, save it, and confirm that your light is running the new schedule.
Congratulations! You've successfully connected your tank and Photon V2 Pro light in the ReefBreeders app.
