Information is pretty sparse on this particular model and the manual only tells the in sump recommended level.

What would be the proper internal water/bubble level for the Reef Octo Elite for best performance? Same as the Nyos at bayonet level or higher up the neck?

I have it sitting in 7.5 sump water.

I have this and have run it at various water levels now. In my experience it runs much better towards the bottom end of the range near 6".

Your skimmer does best between 6-8in of water depth. Since every system and water is different I never dial in a skimmer by internal water level but by the distinction between small and large bubbles where the cup attaches to the skimmer body. I would steer for pea size bubbles to form where the skimmer cup attaches to the body.
