reef-pi :: An opensource reef tank controller based on Raspberry Pi.

Hey just curious, what would cause the lighting tab to disappear? I just figured out the PWM on my viparspectras and now the tab isn’t there to play with the settings lol

You have to reload reef-pi, once you have enabled lighting (or any capability) , and then refresh the web page to see the new tab. In addition to that, if the pwm chip is not detected (should see an warning/error message in reef-pi log) then the lighting tab will not appear (since reef-pi cant do any lighting changes without pwm chip support [i.e. pca9685])

So, following are the order of things to do
- Did you reload reef pi and refresh your web browser?
- If that does not solve you issue, can you check the reef-pi log for pwm chip warning? Or just run
Code:
i2cdetect -y 1

For sure it was a connection issue I’m beginning to think some of the jumper wires I have were no good. I switched them out and no problem at all! Lights are working as expected now. I’m super happy to have a gradual shift now as compared to the hard transition before. I appreciate the help from everyone! Here are some pictures of my lights rewired up in case anyone needs a visual of the inside of these lights. Don’t mind my mess of wires :p my lights are controlled by a RJ45 wire to both channels, and since my two lights are in the hood together I hardwired the on/off on and the canopy power cord is running off a relay to transition between my day and moon lighting

Can i control what gpio pin the ATO and temp uses for relay? Can i use the 8 channel relay i already have?
Yeah, its detemined by the equipment -> outlet. ATO or temp controller lets you choose equipment, which in turn is attached to an outlet (GPIO pin).

Sweet :-)

You can use the existing 8 channel relay. I encourage reusing existing electronics.

I’m slowly watching my tank fade to darkness, something that was never possible before Reef-Pi. This feature alone has made the whole project worthwhile. A massive thumbs up to Ranjib, my tank actually looks likes it’s fading out through the evening, not some hard flash from whites to blues. I can’t stop looking at the tank:D:D

Thanks for the props.
I get to see all my three tanks, specially during the weekends :-), cause Im home. Three of my tanks runs three different profiles, so its interesting to see the subtle differences as well. I am able to customize the three tanks due to reef-pi, earlier I was daisy chaining a single kessil (almost 1 year before, though) .

Its fun to see the changes during weekly maintenance, in charts as well,

Yeah watching the data that it spits back is fascinating, it’s amazing to even see things like small temperature spikes when people are home vs not. It’s really changed my experience with the tank

I am looking forward with the ph probe integration, I think it will indicate similar stuff but with respect to CO2 level and it’s impact on ph. I was thinking about how can we support at least a years data in reef-pi, or better at least 5 years

Yeah some long term data storage would be fantastic to watch trends and such, when you finalize on the parts I will go ahead and pick up the pH supplies as this is definitely something I’d like to implement

Now you make me want the CCS811
Ultra-Low Power Digital Gas Sensor for Monitoring Indoor Air Quality lol.

You have to specify the correct resolution in config file. Whats the resolution for this screen ?
Ok I managed to do it. I had to put some extra code in my txt file. But I’m not sure how it will look on my pc screen now.
Only othe problem now is how the hell do I get the touch screen to work.
