Yes this is a light I built a few years ago, I plan to change up some of the diodes and make it more toward full spectrum. I just got a bunch of the parts I ordered and I pretty sure I got a DAC, or I could do an RC circuit. I got my pi3+ up and running and updated. The lighting is down the road a bit, need temp, dosing and outlets first.

sweet. Which dac you got ? I plan to add support for a dac, mostly using adafruit ads1115 breakout. It’s just they are bit expensive and all my use cases were addressed by pwm only, hence this was never prioritized

Dragging this back up again. I found some time to work on my doser. I'm still not getting it working. I'm probably in over my head, but hey, the only way to learn right???

I have a breadboard wired up with just one motor, but when I try to create a Jack in Reef-pi. I get this error. Not sure what I'm doing wrong!

Any ideas???

gpio pin 18 is pwm pin 0, and gpio pin 19 is pwm pin 1. So , if you are using Rpi as jack driver then PIN number should be 0 or 1.

It’s a weird Linux thing . We certainly need to make this abundantly clear in the docs

Just remember if you Buy anything from CanaKit and need warranty exchange you have to ship it to Canada... Usually shipping cost and time is more expensive then just tossing it..

I picked up one of those and one of these kits from the Robotshop, it looks a little more plug and play. The shrink wrap looks cheesy so I'm going to shrink tube the whole bulb like the Apex ones.

Are the arduino stackable and breakaway headers the same as pi, is there a common kit I should get.

Have you enabled pwm ? there’s a kernel module that needs to be loaded . Add this to your /boot/config.txt and reboot.

I'm not sure actually, I'm just getting started and I like to get the things I need first. I've done some bread boarding and discrete circuit boards but I'm pretty new to pi and arduino and stacking boards.

I installed reef-pi, https://github.com/reef-pi/reef-pi/releases/download/1.5/reef-pi-1.5-pi3.deb, on my pi3+ and checked to see if it is running and it seems to be but I'm not sure how to access it from the browser, I followed the guide and set up and enabled everything, not sure what I missed.

I dont stack them a lot. I use one permaproto board on top of pi to hold some circuit (most often the relay/uln2803, since it has a lot of GPIO connections, and rest go to different break out board. I like them this way, since at the end they are all mounted on plastic enclosure with nylon standoffs.

you can go to browser from any device connected to the same wifi (like laptop or tablet) and just type the IP of your pi as the url
