reef-pi :: An opensource reef tank controller based on Raspberry Pi.

Here is the progress I have made on my build so far. I am using wykats pi-hat and pwm board.

I am now waiting for parts to arrive but in the new year I should have 16 outlets, temp monitoring and then after that I will decide what else. I already have separate controllers for heating/cooling and ATO but I may put them on the reef-pi instead.

Currently just have my LEDs running so far and working great. Turns out my LDD-H drivers have to be run straight off the chip otherwise they can't turn off.

Looking good!
What type of power supply are you using?

Very nice :-)

I had a 3A 24v power supply in my box of spares so I just used that.

That's kind of what it looked like but I didn't want to assume.

Is anyone using RODI tubing on their ATO system, or for dosing? I read somewhere that folks tend to have less issues using RODI tubing vice airline tubing. What are folks using for their ATO and dosing components?

@DirtDiggler2823 - I do not know about anyone else but I normally tend to err on the side of caution. That's a cute way of saying I generally overkill anything I get my hands on, if possible! I am a believer in using polyethylene tubing. I like using this tubing for several reasons. 1.) It holds up long term. 2.) The connectors hold their connections and do not fail. 3.) It gives a cleaner look when installed using holders/brackets. 4.) It can be used in a variety of environments for a variety of applications.

Could you post some pics of how you've got yours run?

I've been using RODI tubing on my dosing pumps for years. I just cut the end off the tube at a 45 degree angle which stops it getting clogged up.

On the end where the liquid goes into the sump, right?

I'm using nylon tubing for my ATO and RODI tubing for my dosing pumps. Just because I had some of each laying around.

Yeah, it's great to see the different ways people figure things out. It would be amazing to have a 3D printer, but I don't have one, nor the need for one, so I will continue my legacy of re-purposing stuff.
Mrs. Santa got me a 3D printer. Unfortunately, the extruder servo driver was DOA, possibly due to a pushed out pin on the control board which was missed during QA testing at the factory. Fortunately, the new board will be here tomorrow. Now, just need to learn CAD...

Exciting times.

@DirtDiggler2823 - presently posting pics is an impossibility as I do not have any SW tanks set up. Only a little 55g FW set up for my wife. Believe me when I tell you I wish this wasn't the case. I had plans to have set up a 300g reef with a total of 550g but some unforeseen problems came my way that chewed up all my funds. However, for the 20+ years I had multiple tanks operating I always used polyethylene tubing.

Sweet! Which one did Mrs. Santa bring you?
