@Des Westcott could you post the full output of systemctl, from the screenshot the right side is cut off, would be good to have the complete message.

Anyone help, mine wont let me create new "Jacks" in the config.

myschematic_bb.jpg

I'm trying to use the pi's inbuilt PWM, which are on pins 18 and 19 from what I've been guided to before as seen in my diagram below (yellow wires on the pi-hat) when I try to add a jack to pin 18 or 19 I get an error... "error:failedtocreate : error : invalid pin:18 HTTP500"

Literally no results in this thread or on google!

I had this before and Ranjib sorted me out. You don't use the designation of "Pin 18"or "Pin 19" it is like 1 and 2 or something. I'll look for the post where Ranjib answered me.

Your pca9685 ic is working ? I have to check if this is a bug in new code.. have you updated reef-pi?

From what I see its failing to initialize the pca9685 driver with mock i2c bus, remote IO error, then failed to initialize controller. It appears to not see your pca 9685 components, can you go into some detail as to what you have configured with your reef-pi or do you have a build thread?

Searched for all of those, nothing came up haha!
Sorry for this folks, I we should document this more clearly, I think the adafruit guide mention it , but nit sure.. it confuses lot of folks

You beat me to the post :), the other thing I was going to mention @Des Westcott are you feeding your pca9685 with a separate power source and have you verified that its still sending power?

Well to be honest it confused me but its also has to do with how GPIO pins are referenced, it's kind of a raspberry thing...:)

I don't have a PCA9685 on this build.

I did use one to test a light a while ago, but I haven't had it connected for 6 months or more.

I'm on Reef-Pi 2.3.

I did Update and Upgrade Raspbian today as well. after I started having a problem.

Verify that on the configuration page that you do not have the pca9685 enabled (de-select if selected), then do a reload and see if that makes a difference. :)

Well, that's the thing, I can't reach the IP address of Reef-Pi. I can log into the Pi over VNC or SSH, but when (in VNC for example) I go to the browser and try log into the IP address i get told that the site can't be reached. When I SSH into the Pi and and check if the service is running, I get this :

pi@DEWD-Reef-Pi:~ $ sudo systemctl status reef-pi.service
sudo: unable to resolve host DEWD-Reef-Pi

So I thought i would try a few things :
  1. I decided to start over. I removed Reef-Pi using sudo apt-get purge
  2. I have resolved the issue with the hostname
  3. I re-installed Reef-Pi using the previously downloaded .deb file
  4. and still have the same issue.

pi@reefpi:~ $ sudo systemctl status reef-pi.service
Unit reef-pi.service could not be found.

So I thought i would try a few things :
  1. I decided to start over. I removed Reef-Pi using sudo apt-get purge
  2. I have resolved the issue with the hostname
  3. I re-installed Reef-Pi using the previously downloaded .deb file
  4. and still have the same issue.

pi@reefpi:~ $ sudo systemctl status reef-pi.service
Unit reef-pi.service could not be found.

Let's try a different approach, let's uninstall version 2.3 and go and download version 2.2. You have not stated which version of raspberry you are using e.g., zero w or 3+ but be sure to download the reef-pi version that matches.

Install that and see if you get a different result, I'm starting to think it's something that it's something else software wise that was upgraded but haven't figured what that might be yet.

Let's run this command also and paste the output if it's still not working:
Code:
sudo journalctl -fu reef-pi.service

When is the planned release date vor reef-pi 3.0 that includes ph measuring?
Could be a week. Could be two months.

The software authors are working on the functionality but are experiencing bugs. They don’t know when it will be released but are working hard on it. (When not building model railroads)

The best part of software development is when you fix a bug, you find 3 more
