Hey guys, just a quick question. I was looking at the Garf tank build calculator for a custom build I want to undertake. I'd like 6'L x 3'W x 26" H. It gives its recommendations but

I was cruising some posts on a few issues their build might have and I was wondering how exactly you would build this tank.

Builders here (Jamaica) aren't used to this size tank and I don't want to chance their "experience" or lack thereof. I'd prefer to give them instructions from someone knowledgeable here on R2R who has an intimate knowledge of glasswork. Whatever you say is what id tell them to do. I really don't need an in-home flood.

Please help and thanks for your time Reefers.

I haven’t built any tanks from scratch but I’m sure a few people could chime in. I would determine if you want bracing, make sure the glass is thick enough and also make sure the silicone is Reef safe.

Well I do expect euro bracing as building a metal brace for it may be more work. If someone recommends it and gives ideas about it then sure if fabricate it. Just don't want to leave it up to those freshwater tank builders. Lol

A lot of bracing is plastic. You don’t want the metal to leech into your system otherwise it’ll crash eventually.

Most of the tanks people use, can essentially be used for fresh and salt water tanks.

Leech even if the metal is properly coated?
Also, I meant freshwater tank simply because none are that big here. Anything over a 6x 1.5 x 2high is pretty much unseen and people don't care if a few fish die when it breaks. I'll have coral and stuff and we know that's a bank account in a tank. Lol. Just trying to get some specs/designs/ calculations....anything that gives me peace of mind so I can sleep at night. I had a tank crack and leak once and it felt like the worst day ever.
