Could someone recommend a software for logging parameters or a good excel template that they use? Thanks.

There's a program called Aquarium Lab that is pretty neat and robust. Lots of fields to record different things including cost.

If you own an Aquacontroller, Aquanotes has some pretty good logging features also. That is what I currently use to keep track of my parametes. It also has a species database and a couple of others.

Bumping this 15-year-old thread because I imagine there are more options now.
 
I use aquaticlog and then copy into excel every couple of weeks. Aquatic log is easy and looks pretty at data entry, but I can manipulate the graphs in excel a lot better to show what I'm looking for
 
I use google sheets. I have a tab for each of my aquariums and a tab with dosing info, e.g. 1dKh=14ml of Alk soln for my nano tank,
