hey guys been wondering if it could be done,

im thinking of setting up a reef tank with a cascade and a built in artificial shore/ beach setup on the other end, wavemakers pointed to the shore waves would come and go, the shore would also help on skimming out debris and such like an actual beach shore.

it would be neat if its possible!

Ok but once the sand flows to the bottom you will have to manually move it back

it would have to be atleast 8ft minimum

and yes! i like the retaining wall idea to keep substrate in place and prevent run offs.

substrate would have to be really deep as well

i like this setup mainly because of the skimming capability of the shore with waves coming in

I like the concept. You could have different corals at different depths. To keep the sand in place you could use live rock glued to e

The sand would eventually fall to the bottom.

I like the concept I will think how to make the dream a reality......

Have yall seen the sand water falls in fresh water tank. Or they are called under water water falls and the have a syphon the sand to make a water fall effect u might be able to implement that

I think it would be very cool if it could be done successfully!

Would be cool but i think you would need a shallow custom tank to do so and may as well make it huge : )

If u didn't want the sand to fall u could make it out of star board and glue sand to it and put it at an angle to have a shore

Loving this idea, you would need a wave maker like the wide tube shaped ones, I forget the name, low walls to keep the sand in place, like you said and coral placement will also affect the flow.

Saw this again and was wondering about it!

I think you can mimic how the sea do it, make it a slope and have a wave maker to push the sand back from bottom to your beach.

Interested in your idea, definitely let us know how it goes
