I noticed that R2R has a yt channel. I think this is something that can compliment the new app well, and am wondering if it will make a return? I see some newer videos on it lately.

And to the R2R members, would you like to see new content on this channel? If so, what would that be?

Interviews with members would be really cool. See their setups and hear their story

Oh I would love more R2R content. We have so many big names here that sponsor interviews, science discussions, member interviews etc would be awesome to see. I personally listen to a lot of podcasts on reefing and find it fascinating

I wouldn't go to the channel. When I want information, get right to the info. I don't want to sit through pretty opening graphics and all of the other fluff you expect to see on a TV show.

Yeah, I think between their sponsors, experts, and members, there’d be years worth of reefing content to see. And then it could be tied to the forum for discussion for those that like videos over articles.

It'd be cool to put a face to our fellow members. We could vote members for interviews that way we can learn their secrets. "Oh snap, so and so has this massive colony growing an inch per week! Quick vote em in and have @revhtree ask very specific questions so we can plagiarize-copy- i mean learn about their system!" 😉

I’m not entirely certain the world needs more reefing YouTube channels.
I can agree. But this channel has been up for 14 years, it just hasn’t been very active lately.

I like to see R2R go to local fish store and find the best store in each local market, that would be interesting

I think we need more channels like @Reefer Matt that don't let themselves be bought by big sponsors, and that way we'll have more everyday reefers like us, who are real and who tell you the truth. I don't know if it's happened to you, but it has to me. I start watching a channel and after a few months you don't know if they're telling the truth or just getting paid by big companies to promote their products, IMHO

Then you join a forum and everyone tells you all the random equipment you bought was a waste of money but that video serious said you really needed to do it this way.

The problem with that is that one starts this hobby with almost no knowledge and those channels tell you that you need the most expensive equipments to be successful and there is nothing further from reality, they even do a review of a piece of equipment and they know it is not good but right there they sell you that it is the best and what your tank needs.

Thanks, but it wasn’t my intention to bring up my channel here. What you are describing is a hobbyist channel versus an influencer/marketing channel. Brands hire influencers to promote their products. The “best” marketing is the one in which the customer (viewer) doesn’t know it’s marketing (the video).

Not everyone who uploads videos is satisfied making them for nothing or very little, as it takes a lot of time and some money out of pocket to do so. So they may team up with brands to get money, products, and recognition. And trust me, no one is messaging me about making videos, lol!

I didn't want to bring your channel into the topic either, but since it's a channel that people know, I used it as an example to explain my point.

I can give some slight insight as I work on social media for us. We actually do have a YT channel as pointed out in this thread. We, however, haven't got around to posting anything on it because we are doing a lot of back-end stuff on R2R (the app launch for example). However, we hope to start using the YT channel one day (hopefully soon). Maybe share videos of all of your tanks or other ways to promote our community here. If you have suggestions of what we should do (which some of you have suggested good ideas) post them, and we will consider them!
