Hi all,

Shortly upgrading to an S1000 G2 and have hopes of having a few tangs together in the system. Dream tang for me in an Orange Shoulder Tang. People’s thoughts on introducing one into this 7ft system as a long term home?

Aquascape will be very open and swimming space will be prioritised. Other fish load will be light, a few small wrasse, gobies etc but tangs are my main goal for the system.

Other tangs in the system will be a sailfin (6’’) and a Tomini tang (4’’) which will be transferred across. I’d like to introduce a powder blue also into the system.

Curious to hear people’s experiences on stocking a bigger tank with similar fish :)

That tank is plenty big. I don't see a problem with that group of tangs, or adding a few more

I currently house 4 in a 125 mixed reef- D.sailfin, powder brown, purple and a blue hippo.
I am upgrading to a 8' 300g and will be looking for a orange shoulder, a yellow and possible a tomini. and probably more- tangs are my favorite

My other livestock in my 125 include a porqupine puffer, foxface, 3 dwarf angels and the required pair of clowns

That’s reassuring 👍🏻 I’ll likely add a purple too if it’s available at the right time. I’ll add them all together and transfer my current tangs over all at once so hopefully it’ll work out.

I added all mine at different times. Also all were vey small when I acquired them so sizes varied when the next was added.

i would rearrange a portion of the rock and always set a mirror up on the end of the tank when adding new guys to the other side of the tank. My sailfin is the largest and can be a bully at times.

I have a Tomini, Sailfin, Yellow, Chocolate and Lieutenant in my 7ft 250 gallon. Looking maybe to add 1 more. Wife wants a lavender but too similar to the Lieutenant. IMO, I think you have some options for tangs. I steered away from the naso, hippo and achilles. Imo, they belong in a 8ft or longer tank. I think the orange shoulder will be fine. I could be wrong but I don't think they will get the full 16" in our tanks.

BTW, in my experience, it didn't change colors for a long time. I had a emperor angel that was boss. I soon as I got rid of it the orange shoulder changed. Don't know if that happens alot or not.

Downsizing but upgrading.
