Ha ha yes this has been a good read! I have been Reefing for 3 years married for 6.. the key is to get your wife into it so she enjoyed the hobby some also.. I let mine pick out a couple of the fish and she enjoyes the tank though she probably doesn't know exactly how much money I have into the tank! I have a set amount i put into my PayPal account each paycheck that goes towards my hobbies and the bigger stuff.. that way we don't have a large chunk of money coming out of our bank account at once and she doesn't flip out..

My fish don't talk back. It's also harder to give a fish a black eye.

Get your future wife involved in the hobby, then get her obsessed...and then you won't have to worry about getting married because you'll never afford it (but, she will have that gem tang she's always wanted)

-been in a committed relationship 10+ years, reefing for 7, and still not married...

My wife manages her own nitrates and phosphates so marriage is definitely easier.

Seriously though, she's got advanced degrees in sciency stuff so she can get all Randy Holmes-Farley on my tank for me, which is nice.

Been married since 1998, been reefing since 2011. Both have their ups and downs, moments of sheer elation and moments of incomprehensible frustration. I have found that if you love and tend to both, everyday, you will be successful, in spite of whatever comes your way.

Marriage is so much easier!

My wife cleans herself, I clean the tank.
My wife will drink tap water from the fridge. My tank demands its own special RODI system.
I only worry about chemical unbalance with my wife once a month. My tank can get unbalanced at any time.
When something is wrong with my wife, she lets me know about it. My coral like to pretend they are happy until RTN sets in.
My wife and I invite friends over all the time. If I want new friends for the tank, they get put in isolation for 30+ days.
My wife travels with me. My tank tries to crash if I leave for 3 days.
My wife is happy when I feed her vodka. My tank gets ticked off if I forget to feed it vodka.

This shaping up nice!! Awesome posts. A good read catching up after a drawn out meeting. Keep them coming!
