Hold on everyone. I got an email last week about offer of $100 off for being an "early adopter" or reef bot. HOWEVER the 'fine print' : $899 but have to supply my own reagents (*API reagent needed for Nitrate , API is not that accurate) ; only selling to USA but no distributor here.
ONLY WARRANTY FOR 30 DAYS!! REALLY! Must not have a lot of confidence in new machine. Since being an "early adopter" there still might be some "bugs & needed fixes" ( which means no matter what you say you have not thoroughly tested it) - which means early adopters are the BETA testers. If you decide you don't want it or needs 'fixing' you have to ship it all the way back to Beirut, Lebanon!!. Plus shipping here is only thru DHL which is a pretty expensive shipper. NOW, don't get me wrong I think it's a great concept but if you really are serious about finding a market in US : 1. More beta testing to get more "bugs & fixes" done. 2. need at least a 12 MONTH warranty. 3. need a US distributor to send machine to if needs repair. IMO

To answer all your above questions. Yes, you would need to buy your own reagents as the ReefBot is sold alone with an accessory kit. However, 3rd party reagents should be bought separately (based on customer preference). We are working on releasing new brands of reagents for various parameters. Therefore, Nitrate will have other brands than API.
30 days warranty only applies for shipping due to our logistics partners for refund of device. The ReefBot has a 1 year warranty policy.
In regards to being an early adopter. The devices have been beta tested for 2 years. Most of the bugs and fixes are already ironed out. We might face some minor issues that we will be working on fixing whenever encountered. We are providing technical support 24/7 from Lebanon. If the device has any major hardware issue that cannot be fixed remotely, we will make sure the issue is handled on case by case basis.

Something from the FB group, looks like they are working on adding a feature to adjust the end point color in the app for your tests. So you can tweak tests if needed. Super nice feature.

Can tanks that don't have sumps use this?

Can it be used without hooking it up to a RODI unit? If not, I can just stick one tube into my tank and another into the ATO reservoir? The waste water can just have another container that it can empty into?

It doesn't need a sump. You just have to be able to place the unit within 3 ft of an RODI reservoir (or ATO) and 3 ft of the tank so it can draw the sample. The waste water just goes into another empty container and that line is longer (maybe 5 ft if I recall). Support has emailed me letting me know they are working on allowing for longer tubes in the future. So hopefully that will just be a software update sometime in the future.

I just bought a reefbot, so excited !! I do have a question about the line length for the RO. 3 ft is not enough for my application, can I just extend it by myself without causing testing error ? My understanding is RO water is for washing testing chamber and needle and syringe. So by extending the RO tube line, it could cause error for the amount of RO water used to wash stuff. Does it matter ? or there is some build in margin for the RO water delivery ? @Reef Kinetics

Based on my own experiments my guess is yes on the RO line side, but hopefully they'll confirm it's not problematic. You just have to make sure it's primed so your initial calibrations will fail a few times while it primes the line.

Just curious, why would you need to do this?

What I would like are vials with ml markings and the ability to manually set the reagent volume in the app. Not all reagents come with 20 ml worth to fill the vial. It would be nice to know the volume of the reagent you added to the vial (by looking at the ml markings on the vial) and to be able to tell the app the volume of reagent in the vial. Currently all you can do in the app is reset the reagent volume, which then sets it to 20 ml. There is no way of changing that volume.

Curious if the needle plunge depth depends on the reagent volume or the reagent volume is solely for refill notification.

I just got mine this afternoon and it's very cool. I'm reading the directions and under step 13 it mentions a granulated cylinder to take measurements. I don't think mine came with one. Was it supposed to?

Yes. It's a basic 10ml cylinder. You'll use it to calibrate. But you could use any 10ml cylinder if you didn't get one for some reason.
