I have tried a few things I can't get the roller mat to run straight onto the take-up wheel. It runs for a day or two then it always slides over to the right and leaves a gap where detritus just passes by. Any suggestions? I tried to start it to the left and make sure it is tensioned evenly.

make sure the filter floss is aligned on the bottom piece that the return water flows through that you twist... You need to remove the plastic black grill and clip it back on.
