What is the correct way to calibrate a refractometer

Depends on the refractometer type. A few must be calibrated with Ro/DI because they electronically force it (Milwaukee Ma887, for example), but they should also be checked with a salinity standard. Most should be calibrated with a standard for reasons detailed in these articles.
