I would like to set up a refugium in my 32 gallon biocube and was looking for recommendations on what to get equipment wise to make that possible? I also am wanting to get a protein skimmer, I feel like the two combined will help decrease water changes and increase water quality!

Do you want to put the fuge in the biocube? Or would a hob fuge like the aquafuge work out for you?

Intank makes a fuge for the middle chamber- it sits next to the rack that they also make (def recommend the rack). However- if you are gonna take the hood off one day- be careful because some mounts might get in the way. I mounted an xr15 using their mount and now the intank fuge will not fit. So a little planning goes a long ways

What about these options guys? IDK if I could use that protein skimmer with that fuge though

I run the Tunze 9001 and the media basket in the 2nd chamber of my Biocube 32.
I would add the refugium in the media basket as shown here:

You can use this light for the refugium: light

I have a refugium in the back middle chamber of my biocube 29 held in place by an egg crate media rack I made, and it seems to be doing great. I leave the light on more than 12 hours a day, and my macro looks like it's doing great. If you want to get the light I got, here you go -->

Can you post a photo of your refugium setup?

I too run the intank media basket as well as the intank refugium basket. For lighting, I run a JBJ Nano led light. It's been working great so far. Skimmer is Aquamaxx hob 1.5.

I run a BC29 predator tank where I feed live food; 5 little predators, so high nutrient. I do not do water changes, I have no algae, albeit I do run low light. My nitrates and phosphates are negligible. I run the entire 2nd chamber as a refugium; ulva, caulerpa, and gracilaria. In a tank that size the refuigium is all you need, those internal skimmers are mostly useless. I ran the tunze and checked nitrtate/phosphate levels before, during, and after; and although pulling skimmate, there was no discernable difference. Running a refugium is like night and day. I raised the water level to the top right to the filter rack and use this light; ChaetoMax by Innovative Marine | Refugium Lights | AlgaeBarn.com

I run the Intank refugium, and Intake media basket as well, it’s awesome!! I also keep the lid on my Biocube and light the back of the cube. Took a photo of the macro today bought it as a tennis ball size not too long ago. I velcroed the light onto the back.

Edit: I forget to add, I been getting 0 nitrates so it’s definitely working maybe too well.
