Could I put macroalgae in a mesh breeder box and throw it in my display under my AI prime?

My only thing with the HOB refugium is that I don’t have any room on the back of my tankAbsolutely you can, but I would recommend a HOB refugium - you can make one out of a aqua clear filter I believe there’s a guide somewhere
I have a spot for the breeder box that would get adequate flow without a doubt. It could work for sure. I wonder if a mesh would keep flow from getting to the algae easily and that the algae might get dirty?

Red ogo (Gracilaria parvispora) is not quite as efficient for nutrient export as chaeto or caulerpa but it can work, it's red, and looks nice. Algae barn sells it.I’m looking at red varients of the macroalgae. Any recommendations?
I hear pom pom algae removes nutrients efficiently, but maybe not.Red ogo (Gracilaria parvispora) is not quite as efficient for nutrient export as chaeto or caulerpa but it can work, it's red, and looks nice. Algae barn sells it.
I did make a DIY HOB fuge. I added a good chunk of chaeto, but most of it died relatively quickly. I bought some ChaetoGrow and that seemed to help a bit.I use gracilaria in my second chamber of my fluval evo 13.5. It works great for nutrient export. Chaeto might work better, but I went with gracilaria because my turbo snail will eat any that makes it to the display.
