Looking for advice and reccommendations for a refugium light. Sump is 16" wide.
What type/brand do you like?
Should it stay on 24/7 or opposite of tank lights?

You can run it 24/7 if you'd like. Most run em lights on when Dt lights are off.
Using a plain old 23w spot compact flourescent. 6500k

This is one of the few things it's best to cheap on. A shop light reflector and compact fluorescent bulb in 6500k range is excellent.

I use a 5000K worm type that is encased in a glass shell with built in reflector similar to a flood light made by Ecosmart.. I pay about $6 I think. I use three at 14 watts each hanging down about 4" off the water. and I'm a refugium nut. And it does away with the reflector as posted above.

Like this link except I buy them in 5000K light frequency.

Thanks. I have one of those reflectors left over from a photography presentation that I gave. Will go to the local stores and see what bulbs they have.
