Refugiums are overrated IMO, dont get me wrong there are clearly some benefits but it's another thing to clean, you can feed the fish with...fish food, and there are plenty of other filtration methods. Their benefits seem exaggerated generally speaking. I have made several friends with tanks, some have fuge's and others dont, I see no difference and the best one has no fuge, but of course that is just an anecdote.

Not sure why you would clean your fuge?? Of course, except for cleaning the front glass, I don't clean my DT either.
