I have a 55 gallon tank it's not set up to have a sump or anything so I was looking in Dr. Fosters and Smith and found a hob refugium. I was wondering would this be worth the money to invest into and if it would really make a difference for my system. 12"x13'1/4x4"1/4 just looking for some input before I go and spend the money on something that I may not even need. Thanks for your help

for a 55 a hob won't make much of a difference.. you'd be better off buying an overflow and setting up a sump/refugium below the tank.

I would go with a sump/refugium if possible. There are so many advantages vs. HOB (size, space for skimmer, time out for naughty fish, place to add supplements, etc.). If not possible, I think properly lighted the HOB may be valuable. It cant hurt :)
