Hey all,
I wanted to get some opinions from wiser hobbyists than myself! I picked up a small yellow belly regal from my LFS a week ago. They had him for 3 weeks. He wasn’t eating frozen but was super plump and healthy looking so I rolled the dice. He immediately hammered live bloodworms in my observation system so good start!
My question is how would you approach QT. My LFS runs therapeutic copper in their systems. They keep a very detailed logbook of daily copper readings and the minimum concentration the system had during the regals time there was 2.32 ppm.
I put him into my QT, which is currently copper free - it’s been 6-8 weeks since I’ve last finished a QT cycle.
Given that this fish has been in therapeutic copper for 3 weeks would you start a fresh 30 day copper cycle? Or keep him in observation for a few weeks to see if anything manifests before jumping into a treatment? And if the latter how long unmedicated would you feel comfortable with zero symptoms before graduating him to the display? 2 weeks, 4 weeks, etc? Or is the answer never and is this just about giving him some unmedicated time to relax before committing to a full copper QT again?
Just curious on best approach going forward for him.
Also it does look like he may have a little bacterial deal on one of his fins? Was going to do some Rally dips to help.
