Reluctantly looking for LED, thinking about Reefi

The quanta helix don’t have an app for control correct? It’s either manual dimming with a knob they supply or controlled through an apex and hydros?
I have the old quanta pro’s. No nothing on them. Though you can install them on a kasa dimmer timer if you choose. I just run them for 6 hours of “peak” lighting. But yes the new helix bars are dimmable and controllable with 10v ports.

Stock SPS spectrum Reefi’s lighting without quanta reef crest bars on. You can adjust spectrum to whatever you like/choose though on Reefi’s.

The photons and meridians are both great lights and would cover the tank evenly with light. The app is solid as well.

The meridians are modular and can have bars attach directly to the light on articulating mounts, and the bars can daisychain power from the meridian so you only need one power cord to the wall for the light + 2 bars. This does need an upgrade power supply, it’s available in a bundle with a discount or you can add it down the line

There is a stink about the subscription, the only feature that needs subscription is acclimation mode. You have full control of the light and bars through the app for free. You can build a schedule of your desired spectrum and levels and use the intensity fader for acclimation. Simply reduce intensity to 50% and every few days increase it by 10% it takes seconds to login and move that fader, you don’t need to sign up for anything

No reefi but I really like my photons v2 pros over my SPS tank. Photons would most likely have to be found used. I also have meridians. I like the meridians but given a choice I would choose the photons. I was looking at the reefi bars to add to my meridian 45 and see they don't run on an app. I see that as a positive.

i like Orphek lighting with the Osix Controller. look it up .

Luca (Quanta) will be releasing a controller to be used with all of his 0-10v fixtures (Helix, Atlas) so you'll be able to control them, dimming, on/off schedule. I would wait for the fixtures to be released, as you can get two to cover your entire tank or do a Helix combo setup now. There are a few people that have a Reefi/Helix combo that works rather well, so that could be an option too. I wouldn't spend my money on either radions or meridians, but that's me.
Budget friendly would be Nicrew HyperReef 200, but I think the Reefi has a much better spectrum. I'm a huge Quanta fan, like others who actually use them, the results are awesome. To me spectrum is key and then delivery. I don't need fancy features, just a robust spectrum designed to grow healthy corals, and that's Quanta. The rest pay for marketing, which you pay for with inflated pricing, not Quanta, no marketing, no extra built-in cost, just great lights.

Nice to know about the controller for quanta, I’m assuming it’ll work with his new panel light as well. I’m mostly trying to decide between quanta and reefi but not entirely sure I’m ready to ditch my halides just yet…. I was even considering buying some Viperspectras just to see if I even liked LED

I’m old school and completely understand using halides, I still have some for a future project, but when I discovered quanta, the story behind the meso blue spectrum struck me. Then Luca released the Atlas, which is based off of the Ushio DE 14k bulb, so I bought one (with reflector) and absolutely love it. The aesthetics don’t go well in a living space, unless you have an industrial theme going on, but man does that fixture grow the crap out of acropora and clams. I have a single Atlas and two meso blue (older pro version) bars over my 36x36x16 tank and everything is covered. The meso blue is essentially his take on the ATI blue + and vho actinic in one bar. He’s done his research and has created some really nice spectrums that coral love.

Just a little eye candy (crappy iPhone pics) of some corals under quanta lights.

I have six noopsyche K7 pro III I'm getting ready to list as I've moved photons over to the tank that ran the noops. I'm thinking around $100 each if your interested shoot me a PM. The new ones are only $140 but they're only 100 watts and the K7 pro III are 140 watts IIRC.
Couple of tanks under them.

I use (3) Reefi Uno Pros and (2) Quanta Bars (MESO Blue & Reef Crest) on a 5' x 2.5' tank. The lighting looks great. I don't have them at 100% or else I'd cook my sps with too high of PAR. I added quanta bars because as my colonies have grown out I was getting shading. The Reefis are serviceable and Daniel is very willing and helpful. If I were to buy again I'd go with them, unless budget wasn't a consideration. I'd do the ATI Stratons if I had unlimited funds.

I'm extremely happy with my 3 Helix bars, 2 meso blues and 1 reef crest, what Luca calls the Blue++ spectrum. I have them over a 40 breeder, so a shallow tank, and I don't run them at full output because they are PAR monsters. I really like the spectrum that they put out, and the corals and clams LOVE it too! I run them off my 0-10V on my Hydros controller. I actually didn't want app controlled lights since I'm already fully invested in the Hydros, why not pic something that is simple and can run off of it? I run parabola curves on all the lights, I run the meso blues at 80% and the reef crest at 75% at the peak of the day. I can grow anything that I want in that tank under those lights!

I remember Luca telling me early on to keep an eye on my alk consumption, that it would go nuts with the bars. He wasn't wrong, it easily doubled when I put them over the tank!

Currently the Reefi's are the highest on my list for my build right now on an IM 100 EXT. Dimensions ~ 48x24x20.
My thoughts currently are to go with 3 Unos and something to supplement and help shadows like Quanta helix bars.

Very curious to see what you go with as our dimensions are similar
