I've been reading about RDSB and was curious if I have to use a smaller grain sand? Some articles mentioned using oolite in a 5 gal bucket. Just got some larger grain Aragonite sand that I was going to put in my BB 155 gal tank but I would much rather give a RDSB a try first. I can return the Aragonite and get a couple bags of oolite if that would be better? Thanks all

This pic from google is what I am planning to do

Although I successfully kept one in my DT for 17 yrs, I adhered to the principals set forth in this article. So, a sugar sized oolite would be recommended. Here is another article on the subject. What is the size of your system? I also think this is a matter of scale, i.e. if you have a 180 gal tank and are going to add a 5 gal. bucket with a RDSB, I don't think you're going to see a great deal of NNR.

IF YOU HAD TO OPERATE EVERYTHING ELSE MANUALLY, WHICH AUTOMATED SYSTEM WOULD YOU KEEP?
