Is it possible to remove an encrusting monti from its plug/tile without destroying the monti? I've always removed all my frags from the plug and placed it on a new plug to handle any pest, so wondering if its possible to do that on a monti.

I guess i would need a pic to guess. Is there enough sticking up from the plug i could chip off in one nice chunk? But if it looks like I think it does I just clip off the bottom half and glue down.

It is *possible* but ultimately depends on the strength of the portion of the monti which isn't attached directly to the plug. If it is relatively thin and a large percentage of the underside is encrusted to the plug then you may have a very difficult time getting it off in one piece. If it is "taller" and a smaller portion of the underside is encrusted then you could possibly take a razor blade or thin flat screwdriver and scrape/pop it off.

Really, though, I usually remove my frags from plugs and with a monti I would just inspect the plug closely, dip and cut the cylindrical mounting piece off the plug.

I usually Leave the frag on the plug, cut off the stem and surround the frag with glued on flattish rubble pieces. Then the frag can just grow over it. . I did that with this Loony Toons Stylo frag
