Removing kalk from my system

I am doing it into my skimmer compartment with the skimmer outlet pointed at where the liquid drops I to the water. I also have a nero3 right there to mix everything as much as possible. While precipitation is definitely possible I feel like I would notice if it was happening to a large degree.

Am I just not understanding the number correctly but the bars calculator is similar to the ai numbers.

According to the numbers from the BRS calculator the ESV solution has a KH of ~8482.
That is different to what ESV says it is.

Yes the 80 mL dose GPT came up with was kinda close. However, all the numbers it claimed to have based itself on were off by a factor of >20.

That shows exactly what is does. It is not doing math, it is just generating letters to make words and sentences.

Also is seems the BRS calculator has a fault in it…
All the more reason to do your own math.

This hobby is so fun sometimes. I just checked everything since there is no way my tank should be using 250ml a day of two part. Turns out there are air bubbles in my dosing lines. Somehow, the Gromit that holds the hard acrylic line in the dosing container that connects it to the dosing tube going into the dosing head is letting air in. So now I’m back to square one with how much I’m adding lol.

This is one of my top reasons for preferring dosing solutions like All-for-reef and kalkwasser where calcium and alkalinity are combined.

OK, keep us updated as you go forward. :)
So accidentally added about 30ml more of part b then part a when I was redoing my dosing lines which caused a spike in my calcium. Went from 460 to 500. I have alkalinity stable now at 130ml a day and will increase it very slowly over the next week until I bring my alk from 7 back to 7.5 where I like it to be. Since I now want to let my calcium come back down and need to continue dosing alk can I dose them in diffent amounts for a day or two so I can rebalance my system? I know you are supposed to dose in equal amounts so I am not sure if I can do that. Alternatively I could do a water change to try to "rebalance" a bit.

You can safely simplify things quite a bit.

For calcium, just stop dosing at all for some days and let it fall naturally to where you want it. Keep dosing alkalinity during this time to keep it stable. Calcium will fall about 20ppm for every 2.8 dKH of alkalinity you dose.

For alkalinity, if you want to increase 0.5 dKH to your target, you can do that in one day by dosing extra. No need to slowly increase to your target. Hopefully you are targeting a range like 7-8 dKH rather than a specific number like 7.5. Test error and other variables make a range much more practical.

You can just stop dosing calcium and let it come down to 460 a little quicker or dose smaller amounts. It really doesn’t matter. Corals aren’t sensitive to that level of calcium swing.

In addition stopping calcium dosing, you could also pretend it didn’t happen . 500 ppm calcium is not a problem. :)
