Welcome!

Hi Reef 2 Reef! I'm fairly new to the forum (first post here), but I'm very active over at Nano-Reef.com with the same username. I created an account because it just so happens that I started a new build that coincides with the Nano In 90 competition. A friend sent me a link to the competition rules and I figured I would enter my build into the competition.

Republic of Texas? Or About Me

I'm a Software Developer and relatively new reefer from Austin, Texas. I was born in Texas and have lived here my entire life (besides a quick stint in Seattle, WA). As some of you might know, Texans go a little overboard with our state pride, and seeing as I live in the capital of our fine state it seemed like as fitting name as any for my new reef.

Background

I've had an Innovative Marine Nuvo 24 up and running since June 2013. I recently got bored with the dimensions and decided I wanted something with low iron glass. I decided on the PicO Aquariums 20G All-in-one for the cube-like dimensions and filtration. After waiting for the tank to be built and delivered, I got it setup and finally transferred everything over from the Nuvo 07-12-14.

Livestock

Most of the livestock came out of an existing tank so I tried my best to use the fair market value calculations in the contest rules. Here's what's in the tank:

Here is the tank as soon as the dust settled after I got it up and running on 07-13-14:

And this is the most recent FTS since I added the Purple Stylophora (07-14-14):

Ain't that the truth...

Either way, I'm rooting for you in the comp now :)

Thanks! Does it help if I'm Tom C Clark Highschool class of 2005 and UTSA Alumni?

Also, does Reef2Reef have a minimum posts rule before the editing feature is unlocked? I want to edit the original post in this thread to add my dosing schedule but I'm not seeing how to do that.

So I actually don't think I'm eligible for this competition after all. While the tank was indeed livestock free on July 1st (you can see where I was at in my build thread at Nano-Reef.com here), I wasn't aware of the rules of the competition yet and didn't take a photo with my name on a sticky of the tank livestock free.

This photo was posted July 12 for example:

I've PM'd the mods to see if my other build thread is "proof" enough that the tank didn't have livestock in it until after July 1st, but I doubt it will be. Thanks for looking anyway!

Good news! The competition moderators got back to me and said that I am eligible because of my extensive documentation in the original build thread. So I am definitely in!

Update pics for July coming later today - I have some good growth and coloration on the Stylo.

Hey Bro, welcome to R2R.
Love the fact that you use The Republic of Texas as a welcome.
Another brother from Lone Star join the club, y'all.
As mentioned before pics are crisp.

Thanks! Glad you like it.

I just installed a CADLights PLS-50 Elite Protein Skimmer. So far I really love the build quality and how quiet it is. It's breaking in, so no skim yet.
