Ideally, your lights will be on a timer.

My melanurus hits the sand about 5 minutes before the lights go out, and comes back out about 5 minutes after the lights come on. They have incredible internal clocks.

Glad you went with the kole. Any site that has a 75 gallon minimum listed for a powder brown is not to be trusted for fish information.

Agreed. 75 gallons for a Powder Brown is beyond ridiculous. A 10 inch fish in a 4 foot long tank doesn't make any kind of sense. As for the melanurus, as mentioned they aren't aggressive unless other fish try to bully them (although once established they can be a bit of a pain to other wrasses added after them, so add it last if you are adding different wrasses).

How long do they generally sleep? I kept my light on till about 11:00 last night(because I wanted to watch the fish) and turned it on at around 9:00 this morning, I don't normally though the time is 10:00am and then off from 1-2:45 and then off at 10pm
Mine comes out as soon as the kids are up and getting ready for school. It's in the sand about 30 min to an hour before lights out. I've have to remember to feed 2hrs before lights out.
