Recommend pipe size for return 3/4, 1, 1.25?

Back Ground:
180’ish DT w/ 40g’ish sump
Possibly dual return pump to run manifold and possibly close loop!

manifold would be 3/4

thanks

Generally, the larger diameter the less resistance to flow, especially at higher pressures/flow rates. That being said I'd use what ever size the pump output is set for, if it's 3/4" then use 3/4" plumping or if it's 1/2" then use 1/2" plumping.

This is the flow in PVC tubing (metric size) with just gravity, and no bends etc.
So depending on the tubing from your overflow into the sump you shoud consider your return pipe and pump speed.

16mm 768 L/h
20mm 1200 L/h
25mm 1875 L/h
32mm 3072 L/h
40mm 4800 L/h
63mm 11907 L/h
90mm 24300 L/h
110mm 36300 L/h
125mm 46875 L/h
140mm 58800 L/h
160mm 76800 L/h

Have the same question. Also have 1” drain to sump but wanting to put a manifold on the return line. Currently has 3/4 return but thinking of going g with 1 inch to manifold and then reducer to 3/4 to bulkhead. Not sure if this makes sense.

It all depends on your pump. AC pumps do fine with one or three quarters of an inch. DC pumps like 1 1/4 minimum for the most flow and head pressure.

Yes it does,,, my 210g. Has 1 1/4. Which goes to a Y instead of A T. Then I have two 1" pipes going to my 3/4" bulkheads

It’ll be a dc pump. Likely either the sicce 7.0 or 9.0. Just wasn’t sure if going to 1 inch would create any flow challenges.

Based on that it sounds like I shouldn’t have any problem. Wasn’t sure if it would create any issues because my drain pipes are 1 inch too

It's what I run. 30 years of basement sump. One only needs so much flow. 300 to 600 gph. Any more and your system gets noisy
