Looking for advice on return pump purchase. I’’might running a Red Sea reefer 350 system and considering a jebao pump. I’m not sure if the Dcp 5000 or Dcp 8500 would be best. Anyone have experience with these pumps with similar sized systems? Would the 8500 be a bit much?

Love the Jaebo return pumps.. go with the bigger one because you can always turn them down.. saves heat and electricity this way. I run a 20,000 dc sine wave in my 300

I have the 13000 and just run it at 55%. Only had it running for 3 months so can’t speak on longevity but no issues so far

I love the dcp pumps. No Wi-Fi but I don't need Wi-Fi on a return pump. I ran a 3500 in a reefer 170 and never cleaned it for 6 years. I have a 5000 on my Reefer 300 and a 15000 on my 330. They're super quiet and cheap enough I buy two so I have a backup.

My Personal Opinion, on a tank that size I would go with a good, reliable name brand AC pump. The AC DC pumps make alot of sense for larger pump sizes because they are quieter and more energy efficient but it is really hard to beat a Sicce or Iwaki for reliability and the small sizes make so little noise that most people would never notice unless they opened the stand doors and leaned in. I have recently been using alot of the SeaChem Implulse pumps made by Sicce. They are similar to the regular sicce but I like the black and I swear they are slightly quieter but it could just be me. https://www.marineandreef.com/Seachem_Impulse_600_Multi_Function_Pump_p/rsc06711.htm
