Return pump on IM 25g lagoon

Setting up a IM 25g lagoon. It comes with 2 (130 gph) return pumps. I was thinking of putting one 250-300gph pump in to service both returns,anyone ever done this and how did it work or any reasons why I shouldn’t. Thanks

I think alot of people switch to a Single Dc pump thats closer to 400 gph. That way they can adjust it down from 100% and its near silent.

The main downside being if the pump does go down so does everything in the aio chamber. if you have two small ones, you essentially have a second heart.

Ah, so you got the starter kit I take it. I got the 20 gallon starter kit with the same pumps. I’d recommend going to IMs Mighty Jet 326 model. This is the one I plan on upgrading to myself. You can use the control panel to have either constant flow or pulse and it has a feeding button to pause when needed as well.

I’ve had a total of three IM tanks and the 30 gallon I had used the 326 model. It worked well for me so maybe a little biased. I also like the controller. Easy to use and gives a good range of water movement levels. There’s obviously others out there but it’s my first choice. I also bought the desktop media caddy as I’m not really fond of socks for long term use. Great at polishing water but they’re kinda a hassle in the long run.

I have a few IM Nuvo tanks, including the 25 gallon lagoon. Originally, I had wanted to use two of the MightyJet 326 pumps for redundancy, but the fit was a little too tight. So I'm going with one MightyJet 538, which I had on hand. I think one MightyJet 326 would be fine. Either way, you just need a 1/2" Tee splitter and you're fine. A Jaebo/Jaecod pump would work well here too, and they are less expensive than the MightyJet pumps.

Yah, I’ve been doing some searching / researching this morning and I’m beginning to think Jebao/Jecod would be the best option. Part of definitely will come down to cost, but right now with a Nero 3 and 240 gph fixed rate Sicce , I’m getting plenty of water flow

Are you talking about the Jecod EP-1000M/2000M (317/528gph)? Those are the only ones I could find that would fit in the ~3" wide compartment. They have a few bad reviews on Amazon, but that doesn't necessarily mean much. There's also the Landen Biosmo (528gph), which has good reviews.

I have the MightyJet 326 in my Fusion 20 and its dead silent and works well. I am going to be upgrading to a 50breeder in next few weeks so I will be getting rid of that pump because it doesnt have the ability to pump from sump to the tank. It is alot nicer having 1 pump in there vs the 2 it came with stock. No need for 2 outlets and only 1 pump to clean.
If your not in a hurry i will be selling this once i setup the new tank. I have only had it since early December

I also have this on my IM15. Been running since Dec ‘22 without issue.

However, I’ve been interested in the Hygger DC1500 as I find floor space limited in the AIOs.

The Jebao I'm using in an IM 15 AIO that's a freshwater tank, and it's working quite well. I have a single MightJet 538 in my IM 25 lagoon AIO saltwater tank, also working well. I have had and used the smaller MightyJet 326's as well. I don't see a whole lot of difference between the IM and the Jebao pumps, so for the budget reefers (like me!) the Jebao seems like a solid choice.
