Return pump only?

Hello everyone!! Happy new years! I just recently purchased a jbj 15gallon aio cube and I was planning on using just the return pump for flow to my understanding is I got something like a 500 gph pump and dual nozzle with rfg that should come out close to about enough flow for softies and maybe some lps right I don’t know if my math is matching though this is my first aio so trying to do it right the first time! any thoughts or comments are appreciated!

500 gallons/hour / 15 gallons/tank = 33.3 tank volumes per hour, or roughly the entire tank volume passing through the filter section once every two minutes.

This is an impressive amount of flow and I’m not sure that much water can flow through the weir and nozzles? (I don’t have a good idea of how much flow these filters can handle?)

Is 500 gph what the tank maker calls for?

Could probably be done given the tank is relatively small and assuming the RFG works. . . That said are you sure the overflow and baffles can handle 500gph?

So from my understanding the reduction in flow from the nozzle and dual flow should bring the flow down about 25-30% for a total flow of about 350-370 gph and then split into 2 so it’s like 2 flows of 175-185 gph each rfg idk if im looking at this right or not but that’s what I’ve come to as for what the overflow and baffle can handle I’ll need to search that too
