Return pump plumbing

I am hard plumbing my return pump but I keep getting off by 1/8th of an inch causing the pump to sit suspended in my sump. Any tips or tricks to get these measurements so that my pump doesn't hang suspended.

I measure from the bottom of the socket the pipe slips into, to the other socket of whatever your fitting up.

I used braided vinyl tubing for the first few inches. Cuts the vibration and is really easy to fix those mistakes

That can actually be a good thing.
Helps keep the pump from vibrating on the bottom.
I've plumbed several return pumps that way.
