Hi all, I am new to this hobby, bought used Reefer170 with all equipment. There was Jebao DC3000 pump included. Works well but is just too noisy for me, so I am looking for a replacement. Currently deciding between Sunpole Magnus 6000 or Maxspect Jump DC 6, please help me decide or give another tips, thanks ;)

Did you try cleaning the pump? Are the rubber feet on the bottom to prevent vibration? Do you have it plumbed with hard pipe? I have a jebao 5000 and jebao 6500 and both are virtually silent in comparison to others I've had in the past.

Yes, I have cleaned it with vinegar, and rubber feet are present aswell. Only thing different is that I have it plumbed with flexible hose. Do you have the newest model? Mine has “jecod” written on the top side.

Flexible hose is fine, if it was completely hard piped that could have been the issue. Yes I do have the newer versions that utilize the sine wave technology so that does make a difference. I don't know anything about the two you listed but I would consider getting a newer jebao DCP for the price.

Well that could be the difference. Can you explain how “loud” yours is?

I don't hear a thing from either of my pumps. I pulled the 4000 out of my sump and now use it externally for my mixing station. At 100% power I hear a slight hum if I put my head up to it. I have the 6500 running my tank now at 70% and don't hear anything coming from it.

Edit: I also have both of these hard piped which should make them "louder" than using flexible pipe.

Dcp 4000 - took it to menards and bought pvc and “hard plumb it”... except I have a barb at the top to connect soft tubing and run it to r input of my Redsea Reefer 250.

Told ya so! Glad it worked out for you. In my opinion they kick a** for the price.
