hi all,
It’s my first post here and glad I signed up. I have just torn down my reefer 450 as I was having issues with my setup.

I have been using carbiseas life rock, my question is. Can I bleach it as if it was a natural rock ? It does have a fair amount of crud and bubble algie on it.

Second I have some zoas left on the rocks that I can not remove. I I’ll be bleaching outside of course but I’m worried about them causing more issues when they react to the bleach.

Should I just bin the rock ?

Thanks all
Theo

dont see why you can't bleach and reuse or maybe run in a bi with water changes to take out any phosphate bound to the rocks.
zoas make it a bit tricky, any way to scrap them off the rock before to minimize any issues. if you have to do it make sure to do it in an open space and do not breath close to the bucket. also make sure it's in an area no one or pets can access.

Curious why you are unable to remove the zoas.

It’s a very open structure rock. They are fairly difficult to reach.
I thought about jet washing them off from a distance but with a small dog around I didn’t want to risk missing some when cleaning up after either
