Ive only ever kept the ghost ribbon eel, which I recommend because its a different species and so much easier to keep and feed! Still get the ribbon effect when it swims and its much more suited for a tank than the blue/black ribbon eels, the “true” ribbons. Those have a very low success rate in aquariums and is one of the fish I dont think should be in the hobby.

I believe @OrchidMiss still has her ribbon eel you could ask her!

But I hightly recommend the ghost (sometimes called white) ribbon instead! They are beautiful, have the ribbon look when they swim, and are way easier to feed and keep! I lost my guy to a cucumber incident so I dont have him anymore, but he ate everything from day one, including the pellets that I fed the other fish that landed near his den!
