Is this my ricordea reaching for light?

Or an eating reflex. I have ricordia under moderate light about 220 par and low light 100 par and they are fine with either.

Interesting I had fed the tank not long ago. Could some frozen food in the water trigger it to feed?

Moderate light and water flow and take it off the sand as it is easily irritated by sand and add both iron and stronium to water occasionally

It’s a close up picture. It’s actually on a rock that I put in to isolate it but keep it off the sand

Possible or he sucked in some floating phytoplankton. Here are some of mine mid tank with strong moderate light. They curl up to and open wide.

As in my tank with over 30 fish, when you get fish foraging for leftover food- Sand WILL get on them. I know from experience. Fish kick up sand and detritus

I have a ricordea florida that has been in high, low, medium lighting and it doesn’t care at all. Even flow doesn’t matter as long as they’re attached to a rock. My Green Rhodactis vanished because it decided the flow was just enough to go into a cave and not reappear as it wasn’t attached to a rock.

Do you have any dotybacks? Mine grabs big mouthfuls of sand and blows it out all over corals down low when he is digging a new hidy spot.
