Good-bye old girl
2003
:(

Keep the fond memories close to your heart and go find a new friend. It is all you can do. We have a large number of animal family members so this is a much more frequent event for us than most people. Doesn't make it any easier.

Passed this year

So sorry for your loss. I know how you feel, lost 2 dogs and a cat in the last 5 years. You lose friends and make new ones.

The friends I've lost.

Sorry for your loss.

We had to put our Jasmine down this past year due to a losing battle with cancer. The worse thing is we had to do it on Valentine's Day.

But....that dog void gets filled quickly with another rescue
The new addition Roosevelt, which was rescued from a rescue(lady had too many dogs to handle)
This little guy came to us heartworm and hookworm positive, the final testing is in November, hopefull it is good news and we can let him RUN on those teeny little legs.

Rest in peace to all the wonderful animals in this thread.

I don't have pictures of him but we had a stray cat who would come to our porch everyday for food, a few weeks ago he was hit by a car. I'll miss him, but I'm more worried about the other stray he always hung out with. Haven't seen him since, I don't think he took it well :(

So sorry for your loss, I had a german shepard back a few years ago,he had 6 months to live and my dad cried like a baby,he took him for his last ride and went everywhere that he knew he loved to go before he put him down..It was very hard for him to do this, that was his best friend. That was especially very hard to go through, I totally understand, our fur babies are so special. From my experience most animals are a lot better then most people.I also had a 22 year old cat that had to be put down and now I am struggling with keeping a tortoise shell from suffering from some bad skin allergies. But I love them so much.I will not give up.

Thanks to every one for the responses, It always helps to share.

As everyone writing here knows, it’s tough losing a loved pet. Their innocence, that they totally rely on you their entire life, makes it harder to see them go, and there’s always that little bit of regret that you could have spent a bit more time with them.

Lucy was 15 ½ & showing her age. I was hoping she would just fall asleep one night & not wake up. She must have had a tumble & hurt her leg. I took her to the vet thinking ligament damage, but the leg turned out to be badly broken, so, she never came home.

Unfortunately I’m not in a position in the foreseeable future to get another dog.

Guess I’ll have to teach the fish to fetch?
