RO Buddy?

I have a 4stage RODI buddy an the waste water is coming out at 340 ppm, and my house water usually ranges from 340-370 ppm, when it comes out through the DI filter it’s 6ppm, are all the filters in need of replacing?

I haven’t changed anything, the system is 3 months old, I’ve only been making water for my 20gallon, so I think maybe like 70ish gallons total have been made. The DI resin is brown now, I’ll attach a pic down below.

It looks like your DI is spent. I don't think there's any way that your filters are used and need to be changed though. Unfortunately with almost 400 TDS coming in, you're going to burn through di resin like that.

I think I have 3 ppm of chloramines in my water so that might be why I’m going though it even faster, what’s crazy is that my house itself has its own filter for water, I guess the water in my county is just very dirty.

My water is around 150 yds into my house, 15 miles away they are as much as 700 off well water. They need 7 stage or more to get down to zero. Easy thing would be to add another do or two but it will add up in cost as you burn through the di.

The BRD universal RODI systems are an excellent step up from an RO buddy!

Specifically, Becuase they’re universal, and can accept a wider range of standard off the shelf filter elements!

Do you run a booster pump as well? These dual membrane systems perform a LOT better at 80-85psi!

I do not but my house is 75psi (most of the time) and this system makes water faster than stated at that pressure.

It looks like your DI is spent. I don't think there's any way that your filters are used and need to be changed though. Unfortunately with almost 400 TDS coming in, you're going to burn through di resin like that.

You need to have an additional chlorine filter added small print on the bottom right of the instructions or you will ruin the filter set up

That would be ideal. Since you have chloramines, you should be running 2 carbon filters or 1 carbon and 1 chloramine specific filter. Either way works. My water runs between 400 to 450 tds out of the faucet and is treated with chloramines. I run a .35 micron pleated prefilter and then two 1 micron carbon filters that feeds a 99% rejection rated RO membrane. After the membrane I average around 3 to 5 tds. If you take care of prefilters by replacing them when needed then your membrane should last 5+ years probably more like 8+ years in your case if you stick with just a 20gal tank.

that’s a good system, but holy moly is that sediment filter disgusting!

I’d be prepared to need to swap every filtration stage and thoroughly disinfect this unit, if I was getting it!

Yup! BRS has multiple different filter kits, they make everything very straightforward, and do sell quality brands!

Just stick with the same model (Dow Filmtec 75gpd) of RO membrane; this is the industry standard for marine aquarium hobbyists, purely for performance reasons!
