I recently added on another stage to my unit and most people mount this option right next to the original unit. Since I do not have the tools to drill into stone (original unit was professionally mounted), i drilled and mounted the new add-on to the front of the unit. Is their any downside to doing this that I am not aware of ?

Other then making sure it's plumbed correctly which in that picture it looks right and being a bit harder to remove the canister behind it I see no issues.

I think its fine as long as you can service the canisters.

You could remove the whole unit, attach a piece of plywood using the existing holes in the concrete, then re-mount the units to the plywood.
